What openness factor would you like for your awning?
With innovative technologies such as Zip Technology, Visitex, ClickOn2 and ZipFix, we live up to our ambition to produce the tightest screens on the market. Those who invest in a quality solution appreciate that tightness. Yet other factors come into play when choosing sun protection, such as the openness factor of a fabric – or the light that a screen lets through.
Why does the openness factor play a role? When the sun shines directly onto a screen, it can easily penetrate the fabric. So, screens with different openness factors are often combined, depending on the position of your windows.
The openness factor of Sunconfex screen fabrics ranges from 1 to 10%, meaning that 1 to 10% of daylight and solar heat passes through them. When do you choose which openness factor?
Shading fabrics with openness factor 1%
This type of sunshadefabric is popular to prevent glare on screens and is often used in a living room (television) or home office (computer). The ideal shading solution for those who (occasionally) work from home. You also improve screen quality and can enjoy your favourite series or movie even more. Without glare!
Shading fabrics with openness factor 5%
Screens with an opening factor of 5% are usually placed on the south facade of a home or building. This is where the sun is at its highest and shines the strongest. Screens with an openness factor of 5% offer the best of both worlds: sufficient daylight and at the same time sufficient protection from heat.
Sun protection screens with openness factor 10%
Modern interiors are lighter, airier and whiter. The best way to preserve that open atmosphere in the home, also is to use sun protection fabrics with an openness factor of 10%. This way you let in the daylight, but keep out the greatest heat from the sun. With a higher openness factor, you also stay connected with the outside world and can still enjoy a view of the garden.
Light in your home is always pleasant. So you don't want a sunshade solution that darkens the interior too much. If the problem is heat rather than light, then fabrics with an openness factor of 10% are a good choice – especially for south-facing windows where the sun is high in the sky.
