Chameleon 3500
Heat protection or light control? You don't have to choose anymore
There is a screen cloth for every application and every space, says Stephan Martens of Solaye Fabrics. "Sometimes light control is essential, in other cases privacy, heat protection or see-through. With the latest generation of screens, you don't even have to choose. For example, the Chameleon combines the best properties of different screens."
Lower openness, tighter fabric
In shading, we often talk about the 'openness factor' or OF, a percentage between 1 and 10. "The openness factor indicates how tightly the yarns are woven," Stephan explains. "So a screen with a lower openness factor has a tighter weave and lets in less light. And any prying eyes." (laughs)
Three screens with OR 3% under the microscope
So the OR plays an important role, but it is not the only thing that determines a fabric's performance. Stephan: "The material and color are at least as important. To illustrate that, we compare three indoor screen cloths with the same openness factor of 3%: the Sunshadow 3000 charcoal, Sunshadow 3000 white and Chameleon 3500 white."
Sunshadow 3000 charcoal: no sun in your screen
This dark canvas is a real eye-catcher for your interior. No wonder it is chosen so often. "Because of its excellent light control, the screen is particularly suitable for (home) offices and meeting rooms," says Stephan. "No more disturbing sunlight in your screen. In terms of heat protection, however, the Charcoal cannot match a light-colored screen."
Sunshadow 3000 white: keep the heat out
And one such topper in heat protection is the Sunshadow 3000 white. "With this you get plenty of daylight in, ideal for bathrooms and kitchens," Stephan said. "The Sunshadow white is also often installed in medical practice rooms."
Chameleon 3500 white: the best of both worlds
If you don't want to choose between light control and heat protection, the Chameleon among screens is for you. "Our Chameleon combines the heat protection of a white cloth with the light comfort and see-through of a dark one," Stephan explains. "The cloth changes color according to the light intensity. That's unique." The chameleon does its trick mainly in offices, healthcare facilities and other buildings with a lot of glass. "The fabric is available with an openness factor of 3 and 1%, in three elegant colors: white, beige and pearl gray."
